Welcome To 6th Grade New 6th Graders!(:

May27

Hey 6th graders(:

Welcome to 6th grade! My name is Lauren!(: And i thought that I was prepared for 6th grade. The skills that I brought to 6th grade were my athletic skills and my learning skills. The friends that helped me the most throughout this 6th grade year were Kyle, Vanessa, Andy, and my best friend Sandy!(: The thing that surprised me the most about 6th grade was the blogging in Mr. Miller’s room. At first I thought that it was going to be hard. But now that it’s the end of the year now its fun and easy!

For 7th grade I think that I am really prepared. There are some areas I’m strong and in others I’m a little weak. The areas I’m strongest in are ALD, science, language arts, and I’m doing okay in math. There were also areas that I needed to work hardest in. Those areas were history and a little bit of math. The technology I enjoyed the most was the moodle, blogs, and the animoto videos that we got to make. My advice to you 6th graders is to work hard, keep your grades up, don’t get into trouble, and just have fun!(:

Good luck 6th graders!(:

Advice to a Sixth Grader

May27

Hey  Sixth Graders!

I’m Sandy. I thought I was prepared for 6th grade. The skills I brought coming in were writing and athletic skills. The friends that helped me the most were Alfonso, Destiny, Dee, Kyle, Juan, Maria, and Gildardo! Thanks to all of you for telling me to keep my head up! The thing that surprised me the most about sixth grade was keeping a GOOD track of your grades and the work we had for ALL those classes! … GOOD LUCK.
I think I’m much more prepared for seventh grade because now i know what is expected of us in Chalone Peaks Middle School. The areas i was stronger with were PE, and Writing. The technology that really interested me the most was Skype, Moodle, Blogging, Voice Thread, and Animoto. The reason is because they’re really cool, and fun to use! No one can teach you better than Mr. Miller, he’s the best when it comes to technology! My advice to you sixth graders is to always stay with your class because it’s really hard to catch up! Another thing is, be quick when it comes to lunch, there’s always a big line! Ha and the last thing i would like to say is, don’t listen to other people, be yourself and you’ll survive the first year of your middle school life! Have fun and enjoy, there’s more coming your way!
From,
Sandy! :)

Hello Sixth Grader(:

May27

Dear sixth grader,

Hi my name is Nathalie, I was prepared for sixth grade until I really came to all my classes I realized it is not always easy. One of my best skills is writing stories! Especially when it comes to narratives!(: But I think they can improve a little more. My friends that really helped me during school were Madison, Andy, Destiny, Sandy, Destiny, and my sister(: So Thanks you guys for helping me through school(: The thing that surprised me most about school is how they would judge you if your not part of a little “cool group”  they’d sometimes pick on you or make fun of you but don’t worry you can make your own group!:b

I would say the most stronger area in school is Science, I enjoy doing all the projects and rotations. I needed to work my hardest in History. It was easy but something went w3957311986_503a2332df_mrong. The technology I enjoyed the most were the computers because we would play Machinarium and have lots of fun. Machinarium is a game involving a robot trying to escape a world to get to his girlfriend. So my advice is to have lots of fun, participate in activities, try not to get caught running to the lunch line, and don’t get into drama! And remember to treat people the way you want to be treated. Well good luck sixth grader!(:

Hello New 6th Graders ! (:

May27

Dear 6th grader,

Hello my name is Destiny(: ! 6th grade year was the biggest step me, but a great step! For 6th grade year I thought I was prepared for everything, but turns out I wasn’t. Just remember be prepared because you will regret a long the year. My best skills for 6th grade year was Math. I could of never got through this year without my friends by my side. My friends that helped me this year were Yaneli, Sandy, Maria, and Destiny(The other one :p]. The biggest surprise this year being 6th grader was the switching to different classes. I thought I would of got lost but you won’t you’ll get used to it it’s not that hard.

My strongest area’s are Math and Science. The area’s I needed to work on a little better were Language Arts and  History. The technology here is very cool to work with. Mr.Miller’s room is all about the technology! We get to Skype and blog. It’s really fun because you get to make new friends from all around the world. If you’ve never heard of Skpe let me explain it to you.  Skype is were you could talk face to face by a web cam to people anywhere and anytime of the day. If you’ve never heard of blogging let me explain this one to you. If you are going to be in Mr.Miller’s class you are going to be doing a lot of this. Blogging is were you make post for people to see all around the world. My advice to you is stay on top of your grades and have a fun year ! (:

From a new 7th grader,

Destiny  (:

Welcome to the 6th Grade :)

May27

Dear 6th Grader,

Hey my name is Madison and coming into sixth grade I was very prepared because the teachers at my school told us what it was going to be like. I felt that my best skills coming into middle school were my reading, language arts, and I was able to be quiet and listen. My friends Amy and Stephany helped me out most of all because they were always my partners in a project and worked hard doing it. Also the tutors in the AVID class helped me out with my math skills. The thing that surprised me most about sixth grade was all the technology that we used in Mr. Miller and Mrs. Judd’s class. It was very fun!

Now I am very strong in math going into seventh grade because of all that help. Math is very fun with Mrs. Judd. Now I am very strong in math but history is the class that I had to work hardest in.  I had to work the hardest in history because there were many projects that were worth lots of points. The technology that I liked the most were blogging and Mr.Millers Moodle. Blogging is where you can meet new and very nice people on the internet. You can even have blogging buddies. Blogging buddies are people  from the other side of the world that you connect while blogging. Moddle is a online classroom where you can turn your work in, do you reading logs, ask Mr. Miller a question privately, and many more very cool things. The advice I would give a new sixth grader would be to work hard but still have fun! :)

John Brown; Martyr or Terrorist?

May25

Would you risk your life trying to save slaves? John Brown was a man that rescued slaves from slavery, but killed people that would try to fight agains him. Some people think that he was a terrorist and others a martyr. I believe John Brown was a martyr because he risked his life to end slavery. People didn’t like John Brown, but he was a great leader. John Brown was in church on a Sunday and he stood up and raised his right hand and said “I will fight for blacks for freedom.” John Brown went to Missouri and fought for slaves. John Brown was a very caring person. He lead slaves to safehouses and did everything to end slavery. I think John Brown was a martyr because he risked his life to end slavery. Standing up and risking life for blacks for freedom and trying to end slavery is a martyr.

Blue

May22

Blue is what you feel when you are sad,

but know that you are really rad.

Blue is what you feel when you are hurt,

then wrap your leg with your shirt.

Blue is what you see on a rainy day,

nothing but black and gray.

Blue is what you see in the ocean,

waves moving in perfect motion.

Blue is what you hear,

when you see some tears.

Blue is what you hear,

when your not here.

then wrap it up in your shirt.

John Brown

May18
John Brown

John Brown

“If I’m dieing for freedom, I could not die for a better cause–I had rather die then be a slave,” was once said by a man named John Brown. Some people thought John Brown was a crazy terrorist, yet others believed he was a martyr for trying to end slavery. Martyr is how I viewed John Brown, he is a man who stood up for a cause that needed to be put to a stop. Some reasons why I believed John Brown was a Martyr. John Brown backed up his words with actions to prove slavery was not okay. John came up with a plan to stop slavery. His plan was to free slaves from Kansas. Even though people who thought he was a terrorist didn’t believe in his plan. No man has ever stood up so presently and effecting for the dignity of human nature. This means that he had the guts to stand up and fight for the right to end slavery and have freedom. Standing up and believing in a cause to end slavery is what made John Brown a Martyr.

My Angel From Above …

May10

Ruben *Corona* Martinez

default

December 1, 1987 to February 12, 2010
My fragile heart breaks into pieces
Up the heaven gate; alone with Jesus
Tears stream down my face,
Knowing you can never be replaced.

Behind all smiles, there’s been tears.
Repentance for the past few years.
Memories cannot be compared,
Like the smiles we shared,
Or the tears we’ve cried..
All those memories are still alive.

Unforgettable and one of a kind.
Forever in our hearts,
And always on our mind.
Leaving this dark world…
To a much better place.
Reminiscing; Wishing to see your face.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

RUBEN *CORONA* MARTINEZ

GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN..

MY ANGEL FROM ABOVE <3

Salamis Battle

May9
The Battle Of Salamis

The Battle Of Salamis

I was very eager when the Greeks told me that I would be serving in thee Salamis battle. The battle took place not so far from Athens. The Salamis battle was Greeks vs. Persians. The battle was very important to us because if we lost the Persians would take over Greece. Our land was at stake.

I remember the morning of the battle, I was up preparing for it. I was making sure my weapons were sharp and I was thinking positive. About 7,000 Greek soldiers stalled the Persians for 2 days in Thermopylae. The Greeks lost that battle but it gave Athens enough time to assemble 200 ships. We were expected to be the best in the battle because our ships were smaller, faster, and easier to steer than big Persians ships.

You would think we would have to use bigger and stronger ships but we used smaller and faster ones instead. The Greeks destroyed almost the entire Persia fleet. The Persian army still marched on. When they reached Athens the Greeks already fled so they burned the city down. But the Greeks formed together and created the biggest army ever assembled and crushed the Persian army. Darius was the Persian king< but when he died his son Xerxus became king. Xerxus vowed revenge against the Athenians. In 48 B.C. he launched a new invasion of Greece.
